Just got this email from someone I’m in a group project with:

FYI - Due to some competing interests, I won’t have the summary out to you until tomorrow evening. That still gives us better than a day for review and any changes we feel are necessary.

That’s gotta be one of the more interesting ways I’ve heard someone say, “I’m busy, but I’ll get to the assignment as soon as possible”.

Maybe next time a waitress asks me if I’m ready to order at a restaurant, I’ll tell her, “I’m sorry, but there seems to have been a scheduling conflict between you and I - however I’m optimistic internal dietary negotiations will take place in a timely fashion, with a mutually acceptable resolution.”
