Tip of My Tongue

Found a neat website - you put in criteria for a particular word (partial spelling, synonyms, what have you) and in a very web-2.0 style it gives suggested words that fit that criteria.

Perfect for, “That word that starts with a V… sounds like vageous”.

Something to keep in mind when you want that perfect word. Easier then walking around asking people :P

EDIT: Oh, here’s another good one - it takes the fruity name for a colour, shows you a preview, and gives you the hex colour code; so when someone says “mauve” to you, you can actually know what the hell that colour is.

Snow Tires + Not Being Dumb = Win

In this case, however, we see a pretty stunning loss:

A snowstorm on the morning of Jan 16th 2007 left about 3-4 inches of snow and ice on the ground in Portland, Oregon. This is what happens to people with too much confidence in their 4WD and zero experience driving on icy snow.

Video was taken around SW Salmon and 20th Avenue, which is pretty steep (to be fair).

Subscription to Awesome

It feels like, now that I’ve bought the Orange Box, it’s not so much that I’ve bought a product but that I’ve bought a subscription to awesome.

New things just keep appearing in Steam that I apparently own and can use - just last week a multi-player version of Half Life 2 appeared along with a bunch of other mods, and I swear that there’s a brand new Half Life 2 installment that’s appeared as well.

If anything, I think it’s stuff like this that’ll keep the video game industry afloat - remarkable, surprising generosity with incredible ease of installation and use. It’s legitimately easier to play these legitimate games then cracked versions.

Of course, on the other hand, as soon as you’re not connected to the internet Steam locks down…

Smell

You know that smell electric heaters make when they first turn on? When they’re burning up the dust and stuff?

That smells exactly like a heater we had at home - except it was ancient and it always smelled like that.

That smell always reminds me of home.
