I mean, look at it… the symmetry… it’s quite a number to behold…

Quite a number indeed… I think it’s my favourite number; probably because hex is awesome…

that’s all… you know… awesome…

Hot Fuzz

Saw it, liked it, very funny.

If you get a chance, check it out. I think it’s worth seeing in a theater.

Haircut

Yeah… you can tell that life is boring when I’m posting about a haircut.

Got it two days ago… same sorta haircut that I got last time.

The thing that stood out most for me was that it felt like I was being sheared

The whole process went quite quickly; there wasn’t much pain (a lot of discomfort) and at the end I was stuck feeling dazed and confuzed, wondering what the heck happened… I mean, normally, the haircutterperson works slowly, carefully, and asks things like “is this OK?” all the while making smalltalk about the weather, or local issues.

No, this definitely felt like a shearing…

SnoDeck FTW!

Ugh…

Ugh… I still get drunken phone calls from Erin…

I also get phone calls when she’s got computer problems.

I also get phone calls when she’s annoyed and wants to vent to someone.

The first one I only ever tolerated because we were going out. The second and third types of calls I woudln’t mind so much if, every once in a while, it was balanced out with a general, generic, “So, what’s up?” call. I’ve tried calling her, to try and even some of this stuff out and have general, friendly calls.

It ends up being me, trying to find something to talk about because I’m only getting one-word answers.

M: So, how’re your finals going? E: Good M: When’re you going back home? E: 20th M: Looking forward to it? E: Yep M: Get to see the kids again? (Editor’s note: Her older sister has two kids) E: Yep

**30 second to 1 minute long, drawn out silence

M: Well, guess I’ll get back to the studying. Talk to you later. E: Bye

There are only so many potential topics to bring up when you’re getting NOTHING back from the other person.

Ugh… I would’ve liked to have remained friends with her; but now I’m just tech help and a sounding board.

I called her today to tell her to stop calling me when she’s drunk (big surprise… I don’t care for drunken phone calls at 2 AM…) and we’ll see how well that works.

I figure I probably get one drunken phone call and one vent or tech help call every two weeks. I guess I’ll take the vent and tech helps on a case by case basis. At this point I don’t really feel any obligation towards helping her.

Troops: HAHAHA! You thought you were done!

Apparently, US troops are going to have their tours extended - so, instead of being in active combat for a year, they’ll be there for 15 months. Worst part? Those who’re ALREADY deployed are having this change applied to their terms.

So, if you made a baby with your wife the day you shipped out, instead of that baby being 3 months old when you came back, it would be half a year old.

Not much more to say than what some of the US politicians have said:

“I think this will have a chilling effect on recruiting, retention, and readiness. We also must not underestimate the enormous negative impact this will have on Army families,” Skelton said.

“This Administration keeps asking our troops for more–do more without the right equipment, spend more time on deployment even as our generals say there is no military solution to the war in Iraq,” Kerry in a statement. ” … This is the latest sign that the Bush Administration continues to overextend our military to the breaking point.”

It will be interesting indeed to see how enlistment rates are affected in the next 5 years…

I understand that you may need to increase troop terms; but to do that to people who’re in the field already? You made a commitment to those people; they should have an option as to whether they want to stay or not - I can’t believe how demoralizing this would be. It’d be like telling a 12 year old that Christmas is being pushed back 3 months because Santa was out drinking and broke his leg. Except, you know, the kid’s getting shot at until Boxing Day.
