The Journeyman

Act One: The Chiseled Quill

I’ve got many plans for this site, but until I get it up and running properly on a decent server, I’m not going to throw anything up there yet. I’ve set aside the following tasks for myself with “The Chiseled Quill”:

1) Get rid of that damned toolbar 2) Tweak around the appearance (requires the creation of new Jacob Grant-brand images) 3) Include all copyright protections feasible 4) Buy postage stamps 5) Move to server

After those five tasks are completed, and my extensive library fees paid off, I will begin posting stories.

Act Two: “School’s Out for Summer…School’s Sending Me Report Cards”

The brown parcel was wrenched open by my father and read aloud to my mother as they prepared dinner together. The only reason I knew the report card was in my home was because my dad has a loud voice, and I could hear him reading my name repeatedly. There were two possibilities:

1) I was being summoned to be punished or assigned a task. 2) He was reading my report card.

So, I rushed upstairs and took a peek. Here is the word down on the sheet:

Comments: Jordan had an outstanding level of achievement in Religion class this semester. His final grade was well above the provinical standard. Jordan wrote an exceptional exam and I was consistently impressed with his insightful writing. That said, Jordan is encouraged to share his valuable perspective more often in the classroom setting. Good luck next year!

** By “valuable perspective”, Mr. Damen means “cynical Atheist view”

AVERAGE: 94%

Next year, I am taking three courses, while the bulk of my time will be involved in Student Council, Warrior Radio, and hopefully, the school drama productions.

The three courses were sent to me on a schedule, with devestating results.

SEMESTER ONE: Period One: Studies in Literature Espo.

Period Two: Spare

Period Three: Data Management Ort

Period Four: Spare

Period Five: Law Soares???

Semester Two is merely an empty void. The problem is, I MUST have courses Semester Two in order to remain on Student Council. So, I need to go into Student Services whenever I can, and fix this. I also want my day to be entirely in the morning or entirely in the evening. None of this, Spares everywhere crap.

And Soares for Law. What’s the point? Why don’t I just shoot myself?

Good grief Charlie Brown.

Act Three: What’s That Smell? Cottage Cheese…

On Saturday, I am going up to my Tia’s (Portuguese for Aunt) cottage up in Pont-a-Baril. It is up past the mythical land of Ayton, and just past Wasaga Beach. It is a really nice place, and the trip should be enjoyable. It is doubtful that I will have access to electronics for the duration of the trip, aside from my digital camera, so I will be unable to update my exciting blog.

If possible, I will arrange it so that my absence will be filled with “Journal Entries” from the cottage trip. I will try to make them as humourous as possible. If I cannot rig up this system, I’ll just post the entries upon my return. Everyone will just have to wait and see.

At the cottage, we will have Sea-Doos and all sorts of fun stuff to do. It is supposedly a really fun place (I haven’t been there yet). Hopefully, my dreams will be more tame at the cottage than last time. On my previous trip to Pont-a-Baril (to a different cottage), I had a dream where Amy hopped into the futon with me. It was weird, but it was also back when I was still nuts about her.

On this trip, I hope to discover the following:

  • an attractive lady friend
  • a group of generic cottage friends
  • a quiet spot to read
  • a large collection of pictures
  • true enlightenment to rub in the face of Buddhists everywhere
  • the cure for cancer
  • the meaning of life
  • a weapon that can kill God

Of course, I will settle for the first four things. Still…that weapon would be awesome.

Recently, I was pondering about next summer renting the cottage from my relatives and going up there with a group of friends. It will be after everyone else’s first year of uni, and I’ll be completely absolved of all high school ties. We could rent it out, and spend the summer up there working during the day and hanging out doing whatever during the evenings. There’d be Sea-Doos and everything. It’d be pretty wicked, and sleeping arrangements isn’t really a problem either. There are three bedrooms, a fourth “bedroom” sans bed (it has a convertible sofa), and then a room with two sets of bunkbeds. Pretty freakin’ sweet.

If certain couples have reached a certain level of intimacy by that time, then they can share a room. As long as they don’t…you know…

Right.

Okay.

Well, that’s all for now.

Later.

P.S. Melissa says I’m cool. I beg to differ. Comments?
