The Box Co.

Someday…?

It was on July 13th that I wrote this:

Whether it is next year, or five years down the road, or whatever. Somehow, we need to get to E3. I want to go there at some point in my life…it is…so enticing. I know E3 is over, and miles away for next year, but I was looking through this Game Memorabilia Museum and a guy had a stuffed foam Gamecube from E3. And I wondered why it seems that every Joe Blow (be it from Kotaku or Joystiq, which are gaming blogs, to IGN and 1UP) get to go to E3, but I can’t.

I must go.

I must.

The drive consumes me.

And, just as quickly as you could snap your fingers, my primal drive to attend E3 has been snuffed out. Because, due to sub-standard returns on company investments, E3 has been deemed no longer beneficial to companies in its current form, and so - at the behest of Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and EA (the companies that matter) - it was cancelled. Or restructured. Think of it as they’re letting people go. That their future lies in a new and exciting direction.

E3 has since become the E3 Media Festival (making it the redundant Electronic Entertainment Expo Media Festival when written in full). It is now a press event on an invite only basis. This means - for those who cannot observe - that unless The Box becomes a stellar trademark by next year, I’d never be able to go to E3. Moreover, I don’t imagine that I’d want to attend the new E3.

So…PAX ‘07 anyone?
