I have acquired Half-Life 2 Episode One and Half-Life 2 Episode Two. Both function perfectly fine and you do not need to authenticate to Steam or own the original Half Life 2. The only flaw (out of the two) is that the textures for the pickaxe and MP3 grenade are strangely absent, so they appear as purple objects (although they are shaped the same). Oh, and there may be something wrong with the FacePoser data for a cutscene featuring G-man. But no biggie. You can still hear him alright. And if you really wanted to, you could always open up that file with the SDK tools and fix it. Hell, you could even rig G-man up to mouth the words “Fuck you Freeman” constantly.

Developer tools are cool.
