Where will you be that night?
With any luck, you will be participating in what has been labelled as “The Greatest Night of the Year”.
I am…of course…referring to…NEW YEARS EVE V!!!!
Don’t believe we’ve been doing this for four years already? Scratching your head wondering where the time has gone? Let’s drift briefly down memory lane:
The First Annual New Years Eve Party Location: Caleb’s Basement Our numbers were small in the first year. We had a table reserved at King’s Buffet that was out on the floor (as opposed to the safe and secure back room we have been using ever since). We retired to Caleb’s basement. Played some Smash Bros. We also impersonated Blake because he left himself signed in to MSN. Remember. We were talking to his sister and his cousin and we pretended that he was attracted to his cousin. Good times. I wonder if the family reunion that year was incredibly awkward.
The Second Annual New Years Eve Party Location: Aaron’s Basement Our numbers had increased. We got the back room at King’s. This was the first year where Stu would be in attendance, and there had been quarrels regarding the necessity of alcohol. We had a PS2 and a rented copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (which was relatively new back then). The objective was to play multiplayer. The tragedy was, we couldn’t figure out how. Some devoted a whole night to that futile practice. Alas…alas…alas. Oh yeah. And this was the first year that had lady-folk. Jenn came to dinner but skipped the after party, while Amy and Erin sat around and participated in games! Whoo! Oh yeah. And Stu kicked Blake’s ass in Halo and got Blake really pissed off.
The Third Annual New Years Eve Party Location: Aaron’s Basement…again Our numbers stayed about the same. We got some new faces and lost some old ones. We got the back room at King’s again. Stu and Andrew weren’t in attendance, because they were in Mexico…Freakin’…Mexico. Curses! Stu was crestfallen because he would not be able to emasculate Blake again. My brother came along to this party, as well as Kevin Branson, and we got to watch everyone make complete asses of themselves as they took part in Dance Dance Revolution…dances.
The Fourth Annual New Years Eve Party Location: Aaron’s Basements Our numbers strengthened further, although some people (coughFrasercough) were suspiciously absent. Last year featured the frenzied introduction of two amazing systems that - with absolute certainty - will be featured in Year V. I am - of course - talking about the Nintendo Wii and a PS2 with a Guitar peripheral. Oh…yeah… That’s smooth baby. We also tried to rig up a LAN game of Starcraft, but my desktop was not functioning with the network. The game went forward, but people slowly drifted back to that alluring Nintendo Wii.
And now we come to the future.
YEAR FIVE!
The first order of business is the most obvious: Location, Location, Location.
We need a place to host this thing. I’ll be sending out “The Incredibly Long Email” tonight when I get home. I thought I’d just put this out there so people were made aware of what is coming to their inbox. And - maybe - someone would be willing to volunteer their estate for the evening.
