Weeks of Horrible Neglect

It has been a while since I have made any decent effort toward posting on this blog. Normally, when I post some things on my blog, I have worked myself into some sort of mood or groove or state of mind. Whatever the case may be. I usually have a reason for posting. Lately, I’ve just been bored. Too bored to do anything with this space. Nothing exciting has happened.

Last week was the apocalyptic “three test” week, where I wrote midterm tests for Number Theory, Probability, and Calculus III at 1:30, 3:30, and 5:30 respectively. Number Theory and Calculus went reasonably well, but I tanked on Probability. I suppose it would help if I were able to keep up with the material, but I swear that the people in Statistics and Actuarial Science actually assign a frenzy of variables and terminology to over complicate what is - at heart - a simple breed of math. It seems that test questions use different notation than the examples in the course notes, which use different notation from the examples in class.

Mathematics has never before frustrated me due to the universal standards regarding most mathematical ideas, but probability has begun to sour me on the idea of mathematics. It has always been so simple and so elegant. Now, it is a mess of “X’s and x’s and x’s” that are absolutely meaningless.

When I haven’t been panicking over my math courses (or finishing a Physics assignment and neglecting Sociology), I’ve been playing video games. I’ve beaten most things in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, although Boss Battle Mode on Intense has proven itself to be too difficult for me. I’ve downloaded some Virtual Console games. Super Mario Bros. 3 (which I completed on the first night), Super Metroid, and Star Fox 64. These games will tide me over until another retail Wii game captures my attention.

On the DS side of things, I have a horrible confession to make.

I have been drawn back into the world of Pokemon.

Subject B found a DS emulator for the computer, and he began playing Pokemon Pearl, so I started playing Pokemon Diamond. I made it to the first gym when I got so incredibly frustrated with the emulator speed that I decided to purchase the game at the SLC game sale (ASIDE: They seem to show themselves during the last week of each month, and their prices are easily better than retail.) Subject B bought Pokemon Pearl and my DS Phat, and we have been playing ever since. We’ve logged over 48 hours on the game individually. Oh, yeah, and I only got the game on Friday at noon. So, over the past four days, two days worth of time has been spent playing Pokemon. I’m addicted. I’ve been drawn back in.

All because of this little bastard right here.

Psyduck

Psyduck. He has always been my favourite Pokemon. I remember when Mattie and Glen (back at St. Als) were making a Pokemon story, my character had a family of Psyducks. One that I battled with, and five little babies that I carried around in a backpack. My obsession with Psyducks have only intensified. Currently, in Diamond, I have slightly over 20 Psyducks (enough for three full teams of Psyducks). All of my Psyducks have been specially groomed and bred with powerful Psychic attacks that they would not normally learn on their own (Psychic and Psybeam), and none are allowed to evolve. Psyduck is awesome. And I aim to have 50 Psyducks by the time Pokemon Farm comes out on Wii Ware.

Oh yeah. Psyduck is the King.
