Apparently, parents are having issues understanding the “new math” being taught to their children in elementary school. This “new math” is actually known by school boards as Everyday Math. In my mind, it is smart math, or Vanderburgh Math.
Watch the video. The way they are teaching addition and multiplication is - I believe - the same method such brilliant minds as Professor Vanderburgh and Danger use for their quick mental mathematical manipulations. So, while parents may not get what is going on, these kids will have an understanding of math that allows them to do basic mathematical operations in their head. A useful skill, to be sure.
Soon, they will be rhyming off prime numbers, lucky numbers, and complicated sequences with ease.
