This post is going to seem ridiculous, considering the context for this revelation is taken from five months ago.
Anyway, on my birthday, Danger, Binks and I went to see Cloverfield. At the conclusion of the movie, I asked why it had been called Cloverfield, since that had nothing to do with anything. They said that it was likely a codename, and was chosen for exactly that purpose. It was explained to me that it was something of a military tradition. The Manhattan Project was cited as an example. I asked if that didn’t actually have a connection to Manhattan, and they said no.
Well, I will have you know that the origin of the name for The Manhattan Project actually has to do with the fact that the initiative was co-ordinated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers which was headquartered in Manhattan on that 18th floor of 270 Broadway.
So HA! I was right dammit!
The only reason I ended up looking this up is because I was looking on my hard drive for movies, and one of the few I have is a DVDRip of Cloverfield. While watching it, I recalled our post-film conversation and so I started reading up on the Manhattan Project. And yeah. Found out that information.
Now, the only reason I brought it up is because I hate it when people scoff at something I say as if I am an idiot when - in reality - I was entirely or partially correct.
So, yeah. There you go. Also, I posted today, so, that’s a plus too.
