Wow.
Just watched Turkey versus Czech Republic.
It was intense. Turkey was losing 1 - 2 against the Czech Republic with only fifteen minutes left in the match.
Then, our of nowhere, Turkey manages to get two goals in a span of two minutes (at the 85’ and 87’). It was such an amazing comeback. And things got tense when the Czechs were on the counter attack and the Turkish goalie - Volkan - got a red card and was sent off. So, Turkey had one of their strikers (I believe) in the goalkeeper’s jersey for the last five minutes of stoppage time.
Cards were being thrown around like mad. You should have seen the face of the Turkish coach as one of his players on the bench got a yellow card for mouthing off to the referee.
Fortunately, after five minutes of stoppage time, the referee blew the full-time whistle and that was that. Turkey had made an amazing comeback all within the last fifteen minutes of the game, and will move on to play against Croatia in the quarter finals.
Also, Switzerland beat Portugal 2-0, because Luiz Felipe Scolari (Portugal’s coach) put on all of Portugal’s B-list team members to see how they would fare. I doubt we will be seeing many of them playing in the quarter finals given their performance today.
