Greetings folks,
It has been a while since my last post. A good, long while. Figured I might as well jump back into things and get talking.
I haven’t posted anything since May 23, 2009, which has probably been the most substantial discontinuity of content since the days where I could be grounded off of a computer.
Been devoting a lot of time to school work. So far, it is paying off. I’ve got 100% in History of Math, and I’ve got more than 100% in Astrophysics (so far). Complex Analysis is going moderately well, although the midterm (written today) kicked my ass a bit. Logic is going well, and Developmental Psychology is a joke.
My exam schedule completely bitch-slapped me. I have no final for History of Mathematics, just a final test during lectures. Same applies for Astrophysics. A final exam written on the last day of class. No big deal. Then, I check the exam schedule, and discover that my two hardest courses - Complex Analysis and Mathematical Logic - are on the exact same day, back to back. And Psych is a few days later. I’m done exams by August 8th. I’ve got 3 weeks to do whatever I want, which - while exciting - is also completely terrifying.
Bottom line, I wont be making another update until September.
Watched the E3 Press Conferences. Sony and Microsoft had good showings (although Microsoft was best). Nintendo disappointed yet again. New Super Mario Bros. looks interesting, although it is no Little Big Planet (not by a long shot). Super Mario Galaxy 2 looks mildly interesting, if only to have another 3D Mario game. I was disappointed that there was nothing from Pikmin 3 present. We got less information about Pikmin 3 this year than last year. Very disappointing.
The biggest thing that appealed to me was Golden Sun 3. Got me very excited. The biggest thing that appalled me was the Wii Vitality Sensor. All I can say is WHAT THE FUCK NINTENDO?
But enough about that.
Acquired copies of Tales of Innocence and Tales of Hearts. They are in their original Japanese (since no English copy exists), so I’m waiting for a fan translation to be developed.
In the meantime, I’ve been playing Chrono Trigger DS. Awesome game. Also, been watching Pushing Daisies at the unintentional suggestion of Brendon. It is an awesome show.
Hope you’ve all seen the Max Payne 3 stuff. People seem to be polarized on the nature of its awesomeness. It features a Max Payne 12 years older than in Max Payne 2, and he is balder, with a bit of a gut, and he is living in Brazil now. Some people love Max Payne unconditionally, and others are wary of the change in scenery of the game. I’m going to assume good things until I’m given a reason to doubt the game’s change of style. After all, noir stuff doesn’t have to take place in New York City.
My laptop was essentially bricked by Moblin 2. Sent it in to get screen repairs and an OS reload. They sent it back unreloaded. So, it still has Moblin 2 on it. Still looking for suggestions on how to fix that. Brendon? Other people with similar skills?
Anyway, just finished up with the Math Seminar on campus. 60 high school kids. I was a little bummed out that I had to take care of 21 on my own, but the female house parents had 5 girls per house parents. Seemed kind of unnecessary. But I’m just glad to subsidize my income with this. Now I have food. Plus, most of the kids are good. Except for the one who removed several layers of skin from the back of my hand (if I had my working Acer Aspire One, I’d snap a picture and show you).
The story behind the hand injury involves a game of truth or dare. I was dared to stand, legs spread, to receive a full force kick to the junk. I said to the kids - without any reservation - that there was no way in hell they were going to get anywhere near my junk. I accepted any alternative.
Doesn’t hurt that bad.
Anyway, gotta get back to work. Might update you all again soon enough. Oh, yeah. Enrolled in courses for Queens too. Forgot that. I’m taking Catholic Education with one of the girls in my program (she is incapable of doing things alone) and I’m also taking a Principal/Teaching course to prepare for becoming a Principal/Minister of Education/etc. somewhere down the line. Still not sure which route I want to take.
In case you get no new updates, on Sept. 1, I’ll be blogging from Kingston.
Cheers for now.
