Orientation Week: Day 1

Okay. Well, the majority of the day was not planned by the university. Since it was the move in period for VEast and VWest, I was able to spend the morning in my room with Sam. At noon, I left her with my dad who drove her back to Stratford. I went back to Village One, had a shower, got dressed, and did a little tweaking to my room layout that I had been unable to do thus far.

After a meeting and pizza supper, we went to some bullshit “Christian-esque” bonding experience known as Playfair. Frankly, I thought it was terrible. Looking around, there were a lot of people being ignored and a lot of people ignoring eachother. We had some sort of hippie fellow named Jerry conducting us from the stage. He seemed alright until he opened his mouth. The entire event was an abysmal experience for me. I’m not a very “peppy” guy. I like very low-key hanging out and talking. Nothing intense. Nothing that possesses an in-your-face arrogance. I just like hanging out, and leisurely chatting it up with folks.

Well, I hope the rest of the week goes better. I know Liam moves in tomorrow, although he wont be here (apparently) until the weekend. Binkle moves up on Friday and I believe Andrew moves up in that timeframe as well. I was talking to Stu about it earlier, but my memory has slipped amidst the yelling and screaming of “NORTH ROCKS! Whoo!” When do we finally get to the exciting adventures I hear about pink ties being stolen from the Math building, and all that jazz.

University Bound

Only a week left.

I’ve got all of my books except for one, which they didn’t have in stock.

And I’m living in Village 1, North Three. I’m on the ground floor.

My University Laptop

Can anyone recommend what specifications my laptop should have?

Initially, my dad wanted me to get a Dell.

Now he’s talking a ThinkPad with 512 MB of RAM, an external dual layer DVD burner (for whatever reason) and all sorts of other stuff.

If I want this computer to have lasting power, what specs should I have? Or should I buy cheap and get a new computer in two years or something?
