Worms Delayed!?

Okay. I was viewing my regular dose of gaming news over at GameTabs.com and I noticed that their release date listings has pushed the unveiling of Worms: Open Warfare to Thursday. This is - needless to say - a heaping pile of bullshit. If this is true, it means I will not get to play against Caleb OR Brian until the following week.

Jerks. Even though I complained earlier about Metroid Prime Hunters, Tetris DS and Worms: Open Warfare being released on the same day, it didn’t mean you had to move them around.

What worries me more is that 1UP.com, which is affiliated with the Gametab network, is citing a release date of June 15th, 2006! Am I concerned? Yes. When is this game coming out?!?

X360 has been haxXored

I really don’t even have to provide commentary to this story. I think it is pretty self explanatory.

Someone at Microsoft needs to prepare their resume. The system has been out for 4 months and it was already cracked. This is what brought down the Dreamcast people. Easily crackability.

Xbox 360’s everywhere are dying.

After spending all weekend working and sleeping, I’ve finally been able to flip through the news articles of major interest over at GameTabs.com.

A few weeks ago, the biggest news item was concerning the Nintendo DS Lite launch in Japan, and its blundering similarity to the XBox 360 launch. Over the past few days, gamers have been pouring over the news of Sony finally coming to terms with the fact that their system will have to be delayed. And while some Microsoft announcements still linger on the topic, there is much more juicy news hitting the front page.

Around the world, there is currently a mass genocide of XBox 360’s. While you may be inclined to think that this is just another speed bump in a rocky launch cycle, you’re wrong. First of all, it has been five months since launch, and those problems are gone. Second, Microsoft likes problems, so to continue the consumer experience, they released an XBox Live update that has been killing people’s systems.

Gamers who were thanking all the major divine beings after their 360 was spared from launch difficulties are now cursing Microsoft’s name. There have been reports ranging from the systems shutting off repeatedly after two minutes of play, to the entire console becoming a video game vegetable.

Microsoft, as of Friday, had not given any official statement as to the source of the widespread difficulties, nor has their been any announcement about a solution. X360 owners are simply sending their consoles back to Microsoft for replacements, or returning to stores in an angry rage.

While some might think that this is just a few gamers whining and complaining about a small error, that is actually not the case. The Xbox Live Update was mandatory, so all the people who have accessed the service as of the updates implementation are sitting with unusable consoles. Anyone who happened to be surfing ahead of time may have been spared, and could be playing Ghost Recon as we speak.

Congratulations Microsoft. What mistake will you make next?

Sony Misconception

Kotaku recently reported about Sony’s production rates and how that will affect a global launch, commenting that 9/10’s of the people who go to buy a Playstation 3 will be utterly disappointed. In truth, Sony promised 6 million consoles in circulation by March. Kotaku claims that a global launch will require 10 million (which is probably right).

Now, if their production rate is one million, then, in reality, Sony will have two million consoles ready for a global launch. If you do the math, they’d have to start manufacturing in September to meet their promise for March. One million per month will make two million by the start of November. So, 4/5’s of the people who go to purchase a PS3 will be disappointed. It isn’t really much in defense of Sony, but - given their current promises - it is more accurate than Kotaku’s claim.
