Back into Starcraft

The game has been out for a decade or more and I find myself drawn back into its web.

I’ve been playing it on and off again recently, because I find I can go against 2 or 3 computers and beat them in an hour, which makes for a good study tension break.

Good times. I like the Zerg.

This Term is Going to Rape Me

Essentially 5 math courses.

3 core math, and 2 physics (which use more math than some of my math courses).

It doesn’t help that 1 of the 3 core maths is a new way to look at math, and is therefore difficult to wrap my head around, while the second is statistics, which is just annoying.

And Optics…god…I want to shoot myself in the face for taking a course that is so ridiculously poorly taught.

Thanks CAG

CheapAssGamer just sent me some birthday wishes.

Today. On Andrew’s Birthday.

Glad to know that they were so committed that they are a few weeks late.

How can an automatic service send out a birthday greeting several weeks late?

Fuck UW Enrolment

I had all my courses planned out. All of them. They needed to fit exactly as they were in order for it all to work.

I check the schedule for the Spring term.

I have two courses that happen at the exact same time.

Five courses that term.

One is Distance Ed.

The other four divide into two pairs that are at the exact same time.

What the fuck Waterloo? Are you serious? Important upper year courses at the same time? How can that be a bad idea? FUCK!

Zack and Wiki

Okay. So, recently, I’ve been playing Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure. I’d heard good things. Review scores were good. It is an adventure game, so it has a combination of traditional puzzles, mystery and intrigue.

I’ve played my fair share of Adventure Games in the past, but - I have to say - Zack and Wiki is the biggest pile of crap ever. It is so unresponsive and inaccessible. I mean…I click where I want to go…and Zack walks to some sort of context sensitive area in a completely different spot. It pisses me off. The game isn’t fun. It is poorly designed, and frustrating. And, with traditional adventure games, you can test things by exploration and then find the right solution. You save before you do something stupid, you give it a shot, it all works out.

In this game, you cannot save before testing something. And, if you buy what are called “Platinum Tickets” - which bring you back to life - you are hugely penalized in your score. This isn’t how an Adventure Game should be designed.

Zack and Wiki is a piece of garbage. Do not buy it.
