Quick Update

Moved in to the school.

Apparently, no one knew I was coming. So they had to assign me a random room, and I have a spare room keycard.

In addition to no one really expecting me, no one who I have been in contact is currently here.

So, I don’t know what to do about the “Board” that is provided as part of my renumeration. Nor do I know where the staff meeting is on the 2nd (which is when everyone gets back). So, yeah. Pretty much flying blind here.

Also, I don’t have a keycard. This grants access into and out of the building. Yes. Out. I’m more or less trapped in here unless someone can buzz me out.

This is a very unsettling change because everything is so bizarre. Oh well. I’m just going to sit in my room and read the remainder of the Foundation Trilogy, and start plaguing people with questions after “brunch” tomorrow.

Fuckin’ Ajax Comments

Ugh…

I think I accidentally clicked SPAM on someone’s genuine comment. It might have been Binks. I don’t know. I was clicking through about 13/16 SPAM comments and all of a sudden, a real one popped up by I had already clicked SPAM.

I prefer the old list where I had to select the choice as I went along. :(

Sorry Binks. I hope you remember what you said. I’m not even 100% sure it was you. I didn’t read the comment.

Stargate Atlantis Cancelled - Apocalypse Shall Follow Shortly

This morning, I went to IGN to see how the newest episode of Stargate Atlantis was rated. The episode - which features Rodney McKay suffering from a Pegasus equivalent of Alzheimer’s that the locals refer to as Second Childhood - contains within it some of the best acting that I have ever seen. The writing is excellent. Even the visual effects (where the team gates into a flooded valley adjacent to a glacier) were incredible.

So, while looking to see what the reviewers at IGN thought about it, I stumbled across this article. Stargate Atlantis has been cancelled. The fifth season will be the final season.

I think this is idiotic. Stargate SG-1 lasted for 10 seasons on plots that were complete garbage. Oh, another System Lord named after an Egyptian God? No fucking way! Stargate Atlantis has only dealt with specific villains for shorter spans of time, and has therefore evolved a landscape where the protagonists can face three different enemies threats at the same time. Moreover, the political landscape has been able to change so that even enemies can be at war with other enemies, and some enemies can briefly become allies.

Plus, Atlantis builds upon everything it has done previously. Over their five seasons, they have constantly added to their knowledge of the evolution of the Wraith, how the “grow” their ships out of human hosts, and how they require human beings for sustenance. They have truly developed the Wraith as characters, from their methods of torture (bringing people within an inch of death by feeding on them, and then restoring that life force, only to take it again) to their technology (organic, rather than inanimate, like ours).

They’ve even had some really breathtaking space battles.

But apparently none of this quality television appeals to people. And now one of my favourite shows is going off the air. Battlestar Galactica only has half a season left, and Lost is two seasons away from their final bow.

After that, I think I’ll just stop watching television.

Such Pain

Ugh.

My back is in horrible agony. I don’t know what it is, but since Friday I have been having frequent back spasms which makes it very difficult to sit down anywhere to read or anything. I thought that by now, the pain would have subsided, but it definitely persists (although it seems to be relocating).

Originally, the pain was centralized between my shoulder blades. Now, it has spread to my shoulder blades themselves and my neck (which is horrible). It is beyond my comprehension how I sustained this back injury. My mother thinks it is stress-related tension due to the heavily structured date that I had with Katie on Thursday. However, if anything was going to have me in horrible, stress-related agony, shouldn’t it have been finals? Finals which ended weeks ago?

Oh well. I guess I’m going to have to tough it out. But if my back still hurts on August 30th, I’m going to be right pissed. Moving into Bronte will be a pain in the…back…and I have to start work on September 2nd.

Crap…

Stew, I accidentally spammed one of your comments on my XBox 360 post…and apparently they cannot be recovered. Stupid thing deletes as soon as it is clicked…I just instinctively was deleting spam comments and I accidentally clicked it for yours.

Please re-comment.
