The Final Cylon

We can now determine who the final Cylon is.

Two important clues have been given in the show within the last few episodes that make it clear who the identity of the Final Humanoid model is.

  1. Colonel Saul Tigh was able to impregnate Caprica Six during one of their love-making sessions within the Brig on Galactica. Since Saul Tigh is a known humanoid Cylon and Six is a known humanoid Cylon, one would assume that the whole “Cylons cannot have babies” rule would apply. However, Saul did impregnate Six, meaning that the Final Five can have babies.

  2. D’Anna Biers (Number Three) tells Laura Roslin that there are only four of the Final Five in the colonial fleet. So, where could that final Cylon be?

The answer is clear. The Final Cylon is not in the Colonial Fleet.

There is only one other place that Colonial forces (the only life in the universe) are currently stashed.

Find the location. Make a list of those present. Oh, and refer to Point 1. I think we have a good candidate for Final Cylon.

Turkey versus Czech Republic: Best Game Ever

Wow.

Just watched Turkey versus Czech Republic.

It was intense. Turkey was losing 1 - 2 against the Czech Republic with only fifteen minutes left in the match.

Then, our of nowhere, Turkey manages to get two goals in a span of two minutes (at the 85’ and 87’). It was such an amazing comeback. And things got tense when the Czechs were on the counter attack and the Turkish goalie - Volkan - got a red card and was sent off. So, Turkey had one of their strikers (I believe) in the goalkeeper’s jersey for the last five minutes of stoppage time.

Cards were being thrown around like mad. You should have seen the face of the Turkish coach as one of his players on the bench got a yellow card for mouthing off to the referee.

Fortunately, after five minutes of stoppage time, the referee blew the full-time whistle and that was that. Turkey had made an amazing comeback all within the last fifteen minutes of the game, and will move on to play against Croatia in the quarter finals.

Also, Switzerland beat Portugal 2-0, because Luiz Felipe Scolari (Portugal’s coach) put on all of Portugal’s B-list team members to see how they would fare. I doubt we will be seeing many of them playing in the quarter finals given their performance today.

This Continent Sucks

Yeah. So…today is Portugal’s last group game. They are already Group A winners, and are playing against a heavily demoralized Switzerland. The game I really want to see is the Czech Republic versus Turkey. Unfortunately, these games are not being broadcast on TSN (as they usually are) because of the U.S. Open 2008. I find this confusing, since the Euro and Fifa World Cups are the most commonly watched sports programs worldwide…but I guess more people do tune in to see Tiger Woods doing anything.

Ugh. So, the only game that airs on any channel live in this timezone is the Portugal game…which will not really have any tournament defining moments in it.

Boo. Television sucks.

Soon Enough

A lot of stuff to post about: - Life-related developments - Run down of the CMC Seminar - A tale of how I met the world’s worst person during that week - Battlestar Galactica midterm - Other stuff too

I’ve just got a Physics midterm to study for, so I’ll make the posts whenever I can.

Assessment versus Evaluation

So, our MTHEL lecture today featured a quest speaker on assessment.

We talked about levels. You know. Level 1,2,3,4. That kind of thing. Yeah.

The speaker was the first person with a math background who I have ever encountered that supported levels. And I appreciate the motive for levels. But…the whole concept of using them for grading is ridiculous, and it dawned on me that levels are designed to appease an age group known as the millennials.

More on that over the weekend. I have to write a scathing critique of levels, because they are - by far - the worst grading system ever.

Portugal Destroys The Czech Republic 3-1

Portugal has won again.

Boo yah.

Didn’t get to see the game this time (although someone was streaming the video in Lin. Alg 2). I saw Deco’s goal in the first 8 minutes, and I almost yelled in dismay when the Czech Republic got an equalizer at around the 17th minute. I followed the game online after that up until half time, and was unable to follow it further because of my class.

When I came back, I was glad to see that Ronaldo had used his skills that pay the bills and scored Portugal’s second goal in the 63rd minute. And - in what is becoming a tradition for them this Euro - a late substitution by Portugal scored an additional goal past the 90th minute. Really great stuff.

Go Portugal.
