The Box Co.

Wii Have Victorwii! Wii have victorwii!

I did it. It was some inexpressible fluke, but I did it.

I have - sitting at home - a brand new Nintendo Wii with Twilight Princess humming away inside it.

drools

I can’t believe it. I just can’t. I am at a loss.

I’m just worried that it might break somehow. It fell out of the box when I opened it. There were two different “case boxes” that faced eachother, so that nothing could fall out (in theory). As I tugged on them to get them to slide out of the box, the bottom one got stuck. The top one (which held the Wii, inexplicably), lunged out of the box and the Wii fell to the floor.

I panicked. But it worked.

I don’t have my Wii number, but I will get it for you Wii-owners post haste.

The Wii Hunt

I’m at Wal Mart right now. The gaming truck comes in at 10 or 10:30.

I am going to constantly go out and pester the HE clerk until I have my Wii. If they wish me to stop asking them every fifteen minutes, then they should arrange to page me over the PA.

That is all. I will update you on the success of my desperate plan.

10:15 EDIT:

I asked the Home Entertainment clerk whether they had received any Wiis today. She said that sometimes they receive them on Wednesday or Thursday, and that it wasn’t a set thing. Which was kind of obvious. What I wanted to know was if they had received their shipment today. If they had, then there would be no reason to keep checking back. If they had not, then there would be. So, yeah. She was a bit of a bitch about that. She didn’t even let me finish the question.

Anywho, I’m nervous as hell about missing out on it. Also, I was looking at ebgames.com and I see they are doing pre-orders for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. How the hell can they do pre-orders for a game that doesn’t even have a North American release date yet? And how can they claim that it will be coming out at the start of June (before the Japanese release, surprisingly)?

It is all kind of ridiculous when you think about it. More edits to come.

10:45 EDIT:

I went up to the HE again and a guy was unpacking composite cables for the Wii. There did not appear to be any systems themselves, just the cables. I’m trying to keep track of whether they have any product in or not.

11:00 EDIT:

From what I can see, they didn’t get any Nintendo Wiis in stock today. Which totally blows. I’m tempted just to purchase Twilight Princess for the Gamecube, but that would be foolhardy. I want to play it on the Wii, since it is one of the few games of merit on that system.

Will continue to wait.

Domain Name Choosing

I’ve decided on a suitable domain name and title of my new space.

TheCoinOp.com

I figure, it has a nice ring to it. It is short. Memorable. And pays homage to the games of old.

I’m not sure how to go about registering it though, so if Binkle or Brendon could tell me where to go…perhaps some sort of domain name depot…I honestly don’t know.

But, if you this name sounds a bit wierd, it ties into my reinvisioning of The Box as an entity.

:)

Also, I’m posting from work. I’m in the WalMart on Fischer-Hallman and Ottawa, in the big shopping centre. There is NO business. I have to sit here for 8 hours today, tomorrow, and the next day with nothing to do. And I feel guilty surfing the web, because we’re not supposed to.

A Father Gets Fucked Again!

I was listening to the Bill Carroll show on CFRB 1010 out of Toronto, and again, the discussion topic had to do with another father getting royally fucked over. I searched high and low for the news story, but I couldn’t find it as easily as the Saskatchewan case, possibly because this one occurred in Miami (I believe).

So anyway, what happens is the man and the woman get married. Woman gets pregnant. Woman gives birth. Everyone is happy for the beautiful baby. Then, the marriage falls apart, and a divorce hearing occurs. Moreover, the father is forced to pay child support payments.

Does something seem wrong here? No. Not yet. But just you wait.

The father who has been forced by the court to pay child support payments is not the child’s biological father. At some point during the divorce, it came to light that the wife cheated on her husband, and this child was the end result. A paternity test proved it. Despite all of this, the courts still made her husband - the victim of this act of infidelity - pay child support payments. Meanwhile, the biological father walks off without a dime taken from his pocket.

The entire hearing is just as ridiculous as the Saskatchewan case, and…it just boggles the mind what kind of bullshit is done to fathers in the legal system, but you never really hear about it until something really fucking stupid happens.

Binkle, when you are a big-time lawyer-man, I hope you start to balance out all of these bullshit feminist decisions that have intruded into the legal system, because this is just bogus.

Also, why haven’t any of my readers comment on this stuff? You are all men. You are all future fathers. How can you not have an opinion about this? And Binkle. You’re a future father, and a future lawyer. Where’s the jargon? I really want to see where you stand on this. Maybe you can shed some sort of light on it that - contorted though it may be - presents more of the legal side to both of these situations.

Someone comment though. Please. I feel these are the most important stories that I have ever brought up on this blog in the 3 years or so that it has existed, and I would feel awful if I couldn’t illicit some response from my readership.

Temporarily

I have put this theme up temporarily so that the site may continue to function as I make my periodic edits.

I hoped to be done the new template soon, but - due to work - I haven’t had a chance to complete it.

I may or may not be working this weekend, so it could be done soon. Then again, maybe not.

Damn You Binkle

He was right.

Jewel Staite made her first appearance in the season finale of Stargate Atlantis, replacing Carson Beckett.

Wow.

On the one hand, I hate that Binkle was right.

On the other hand, Jewel Staite is a fox, and I’m glad she’s on the show.
